Thanks to Marie for setting this gig up and to all our friends who made it out. All the bands brought it and not only did we get food and booze, but they also paid us well. Nice. Not all Denver venues can say the same. Luke killed it on guitar--it being his first show back in the guitar saddle. We've sold out of Cd's and the shirts are moving fast. Not bad for three 40 somethings and a gal who "slaps that bass." (Chanted by a few drunk gals in the crowd during the set). Stay classy Colfax.
This one was weird. 7th Circle is a terrific venue and the people who volunteer there are excellent. However, Whirr, the headliner, never showed up to play, citing a band members allergic reaction to dinner the next day on their FB page. Personally, I think this is dubious, as they were seen exiting the Collective, apparently unhappy with the venue, and they also played the very next day in SLC. No matter. Based upon what I've seen they are just part of the So. Cal hype machine. The best thing on their FB page is their several rants about a bad review they got from Pitchfork. Karma.
